MC Welcomes Illinois Paralegal Association Guest Speaker
On Wednesday, 19 October 2016, Molly King, a practicing paralegal in Chicago and a representative of the Illinois Paralegal Association, spoke to a gathering of MacCormac College members of the Paralegal Studies Club. Prof. Grassi and approximately 20 students were in attendance.
Molly introduced herself and gave a 15 minute presentation on the merits of joining the Illinois Paralegal Association (“I.P.A.”) as a student member. These include invitations to I.P.A. seminars, invitation to the I.P.A. annual meeting, subscription to the I.P.A. quarterly e-newsletter, access to the I.P.A. job board and automatic dual membership in the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (N.F.P.A.) Molly also distributed a pamphlet outlining the functions of the I.P.A. and a list of personnel.
Thereafter, Molly took questions from the student, centering around her employment as a paralegal in the Chicago Loop area. Questions included how did she find her first job, what did she do in her current job, what is her opinion on continuing education for paralegals, and other employment matters. The students and professor were pleased to have Molly come and speak, and she was warmly thanked for her time.
