Outreach and Engagement

Community Partnerships

MacCormac College is committed to serving the communities in which we live and work. Students become better citizens by taking an active role in the community and gain experience and connections to use in the workforce. A few of the community outreach projects that we are involved with include:

The Greater Chicago Food Depository

The Greater Chicago Food Depository, Chicago’s food bank, is a nonprofit food distribution and training center providing food for hungry people while striving to end hunger in our community. MacCormac students regularly volunteer their time to help repack bulk products to individual/family sizes, assemble boxes with assorted food, and check expiration dates.

In-House Gallery

MacCormac has a dedicated in-house gallery where local artists can showcase their work. The space was created to provide students and faculty a means of connecting with the community by exposing them to locally-created art.

Artists of the Wall Festival

The Artists of the Wall Festival brings together neighbors of all ages to collaborate on a 600-foot lakefront mural at Loyola Park Beach in Rogers Park. It began as a response to gangs who would continually graffiti the 600-foot sea wall. The MC community enjoys taking part by transforming an assigned section on the wall into an amazing work of art.

Cook County Sheriff’s Boot Camp

MacCormac has a longstanding relationship with Cook County Sheriff’s Boot Camp. This program, established in 2007 by the Cook County Sheriff, is an alternative to incarceration of nonviolent young offenders who plead guilty to their charges and agree to be voluntarily placed in the program.

Learn 2 Laugh Comedy Fundraiser

Learn 2 Laugh is MacCormac’s fantastic annual comedy fundraiser. Find out more about Learn 2 Laugh here.

Throughout the school year, dates for upcoming and current food and clothing drives are posted so students, faculty and staff can participate in these wonderful opportunities to help those less fortunate.
